Don’t pass up on the opportunity to meet representatives from several Eastern Ontario Colleges who specialize in skilled trades, and the training of Apprentices. You will have the opportunity to meet local employers who are looking to hire, to network with local employment agencies, and area service providers who can assist in job searches, resume writing and much, much more. The fair will take place Thursday, February 11, 10:30-3:20 in the gym. Grade 10's will visit the fair Period 2. Grade 11's will attend a forum in the auditorium after lunch and Grade 12's will attend the fair in the gym. Period 4 the Grade 11's will visit the displays in the gym.
Cornwall - Students, staff, and parents of St. Joseph’s CSS have raised $4000 to assist with the Haiti Relief Effort. The donation will be sent to the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace which is the official Catholic development organization sponsored by the Canadian Catholic Bishops. WHAT'S NEW
The Guidance department has just finished meeting with the Grade 8 students from all of our feeder schools. The students got a chance to tour the school and learn about their Grade 9 program. We look forward to welcoming all of them into the St. Joe's family next September.
A reminder to college bound students that the deadline for application to college is February 1st. Grad gown payment for all graduates is due before the March break. The cost is $25.00. Bring your money to the Guidance office.
Our Grade 8 Orientation and Open House will take place on February 18th. The evening will begin at 7:00pm in the school auditorium. We look forward to seeing the Grade 8's and their parents.
Course selection for next year will begin in mid February and continue until the March break. If you unsure about your course selection, see your counsellor for help.

ST. JOE'S TO OFFER SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR IN BUSINESS NEXT SEMESTER.
The SHSM is a ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.

INFORMATION FOR GRADE 8 STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS
We will be posting information for Grade 8 students and their parents on our website. Here are some important dates to keep in mind:
January 8-20: Guidance counsellors will meet with Grade 8 feeder school students at St. Joe's.
January 22: All official registration forms with teacher recommendations will be sent home to parents
January 28: Grade 8 parent meeting in the Library at St. Joe's at 7:00pm. This meeting is for parents only
February 18: Orientation and Open House for Grade 8 students and their parents. Tour the facilities and meet the teachers.
March 5: Final date to return official registration forms to Grade 8 teachers.
